The Rainforest HideawayRegularly rated on Trip Advisor among the top ten restaurants in the Caribbean, Rainforest Hideaway is a short ferry ride across the bay. Set in the mangroves on a
dock surrounding a lagoon full of performing fish, Rainforest is a truly magical
dining experience. Jean René, the Maitre D’ and Chef Myron have been with
Rainforest from the beginning, building the dock by hand and creating a fine
dining restaurant in a rustic tropical setting . The menu is a fusion of French and Asian with some strong Caribbean flavours and we usually have a sample menu pinned on our board on the beach. Of course, the menu changes according to what fresh ingredients are available so there are always some nice surprises. Starter selections might include vanilla ravioli stuffed with ginger and coconut crab with a lime and coriander dressing, or jerked scallops and king prawns sautéed in garlic and served with a creamy Parmesan risotto. Main courses may feature seared fillet of mahi-mahi served with a puree of sweet potato and ginger and a red pepper sauce, or herb crusted rack of lamb served with nutmeg spiced gnocchi and a chili tomato salsa. With its sophisticated menu, relaxed atmosphere and personal service, Rainforest has become a favorite with not only with visitors but also with locals who come in on their boats from the north of the island. And in the season it lives up to its name and attracts the celebrities who like to slip away from their mega yachts and hide away ashore for the evening. The Rainforest Hideaway is open every night except Tuesday and it’s a good idea to book, either by phone or by calling in to take a look at the evening’s menu during the afternoon. Their bar, stocked with champagnes, fine wines, rums and whiskies, tropical cocktails and plenty of ice cold Pitons, is open to non diners from 4pm until late. Froggie Jacques Waterfront Restaurant - Rodney BayChef Jacques had been travelling the world for 15 years when he arrived in St. Lucia more than 10 years ago. He bought with him a great appreciation for indigenous ingredients and he has developed his own style of fusion cuisine that combines fresh local ingredients with his French cooking methods and flare for creativity.
He shops personally and can be found daily scouting the market stalls, and other local suppliers, looking for just the right ingredients, the result is meals cooked to perfection. Chef Jacques mixes his own spices and seasonings and, like most French Chefs, he is a talented sauce maker, he also enjoys smoking his own meats and fish. Jacques’s knowledge and love of wine shows in the wine list, it carries an interesting selection of wines from both France and the new world. The cocktail menu is extensive and contains old favourites and some interesting new ones, try "Jack’s Amazing Electric Frog"! Cathy Rioux, the chef’s wife is the hostess at Froggie Jacques Waterfront Restaurant, and the service is friendly and efficient. The lunch menu is casual and brought to you on a blackboard. Dinner is a la carte and each dish is prepared to order. Popular selections include starters like octopus and conch in spicy passion fruit sauce, squid in lime and chive sauce and main courses of fresh catch of the day in Tamarind sauce, or boneless chicken stuffed with local smoked fish in a citrus sauce. Froggie Jacques Waterfront Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Monday and Saturday. Open on Suday for their popular Jazz & Brunch! Don't forget to mention that you're sent by Louise & Normand to get your free Rum Punch! Phone: (758) 458-1900. The Coal Pot - CastriesThe Coal Pot has been a fine dining experience for the last forty years. Michelle Elliot and her French husband, Xavier, own and manage the restaurant - voted Restaurant of the Year in 1999. Michelle is the elegant hostess, Xavier is the chef, sans pareil.
Dinner, with linen service, is a relaxed affair. Coquilles St. Jacques and smoked salmon add a continental flair to local delicacies, such as curried chicken served in a coconut shell. There is also a selection of fine wine. The Coal Pot's ambiance is as special as the cuisine. The walls of the wood open-air structure are decorated with colorful Caribbean art. These acrylic and water designs are Michelle's imaginative creations. Just a few feet away from the dining tables, the waters of the Vigie Marina lap against the coral stone beach. On full moon nights, tables are set under the stars. The Coal Pot is not only a food lover's delight but an intimate place to lunch and dine! Print this article and show it to their "Maitre d'hotel". You'll get a nice romantic table next to the water (according to availability). Don't forget to mention that you're sent by Louise & Normand!
